Electronic devices consist of a branch off of science and technology which makes use of the motion of electrons. Electronics remains different from simple electrical sciences and technology. This distinction originated circa 1906 Lee De Forest’s invention, the Triode, which made electrical amplification possible with non-mechanical devices. Nearly all electronic devices in use today use semiconductors to generate components electron control. The study of semiconductors and like devices and technologies is considered a branch of the Physics field. Every single home in America has at least some electronic devices in side of it.
If it uses electricity, then it is some type of electronic device. Different components make up the brains of electronic devices. These components are connected together through means of being soldered to a circuit board. They can come as an individual or be packed together in more complex integrated circuits. The two main types of circuit used today are the older analog, and digital. Analog appliances, such as radios, are made through the connection of a few simple conductors and use a continuous current as opposed to the digital circuit which uses fluctuating voltage. The actual number of analog circuits so far devised is gigantic because a circuit can be defined as anything from a single component, to systems containing tens of thousands of components.
Analog circuits can also be referred to as linear circuits. Digital circuits use discreet amounts of voltage. They are the basis behind all computers we use today. The electronics market in the U.S. alone has surpassed a billion dollars annually and continues to grow. With the introduction no lap top computers, PDA’s and IPODS the electronics industry has seen more competition than ever before. Although the functions and styles of such electronic devices differ, their internal make up remains is pretty much the same.
Electronics have aided the advancement of science, medical technology and engineering for the last 100 years. With the creation of such devices like the IPAD and 3-G phones we are likely to see another exponential jump in electronic uses and make-up. Further achievements in the computer processing field have brought processor speed to previously un-reached heights. The major electronics companies of the world have seen record profits for the last 10 years. Sony and Panasonic have cornered the new market for DVD technology with their joint creation of the Blue Ray DVD system. Dell and MAC have become industry leaders in the manufacturing and designing of personal and laptop computers.
